Award recognition for Multi Utility Apprenticeship Scheme

YP Awards 6

We’re thrilled to have won an award for our training of young apprentices at the Insider North West Young Professionals Awards 2022.

Our Multi Utility Apprenticeship training scheme was winner in the Graduate/Training Scheme of the Year category which recognises businesses who offer solid training schemes to young professionals, delivering a breadth of experience, quality client work and top mentorship to those enrolled with the goal of furthering the careers of young professionals.

We’re especially proud that four of our Multi Utility Construction Apprentices, Ethan, Connah, Adam and Jordan, who graduated in 2021 achieving some of the highest marks in the country, were also shortlisted in the Apprentice category.

In awarding Aptus, tYP Awards Aptus Winhe judges said: “The clear effectiveness of Aptus’ apprenticeship scheme defined by high retention rates and progressions to team leader roles earned them this year’s award. The judges were particularly impressed by their four apprentices each nominated for an award this evening, Adam, Connah, Ethan and Jordan, which they felt highlighted the impact of this apprenticeship scheme.”

Aptus launched its bespoke multi utility apprenticeship training programme to address the industry’s skills crisis by growing our own talent. The 2-year scheme has been developed with Manchester based Utility & Construction Training (UCT) and leads to an NVQ Level 2 Gas Network Operative qualification with additional qualifications in Gas and Water Mains laying and other industry skills accredited by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

Since launching in 2015, 18 apprentices have qualified through the scheme, with all offered contracts of employment with Aptus. Another intake of seven to the scheme in 2021 are currently completing on-the-job training combined with block release learning at UCT’s state-of-the-art facility in Carrington and are due to graduate in 2023. Due to our ongoing successful expansion, we are also excited to launch a fifth intake to our Multi Utility Construction Apprenticeship scheme which will be opening for applications this May.

The winners of the Insider North West Young Professionals Awards 2022 were announced at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on Thursday 21st April, at an event celebrating the talented young professionals in the region who are making an impact.

YP Awards 9Three Aptus graduate apprentices attended the ceremony and celebrated the win with Managing Director Lisa Kerford, People Director Natasha Clarke, North West Regional Manager John Gill and our training partners Utility and Construction Training (UCT).

Natasha Clarke, People Director, said: “We won the Training Scheme of the Year, which is testament to the hard work that is put in by the apprentices, training provider Utility and Construction Training (UCT) and everyone at Aptus who supports the apprentices whilst on the scheme and into their further careers with Aptus. Well done to all involved. It was great to be able to take home a trophy!”
