This May, Aptus hosted another successful workshop for the members of Aptus Academy. To kick off Mental Health Awareness Week we welcomed Liam from WHYSUP to talk to our members about Mental Health Awareness.
Liam shared his personal story and spoke about the importance of dispelling misconceptions around mental health and how raising awareness can help to improve organisational wellbeing. He also shared some practical methods we can all use to nurture a positive mindset.
People Director Natasha Clarke, who ran the workshop, said:
“Liam was fantastic, giving our colleagues some great, practical, takeaways, without overwhelming them with information.
“Before Liam arrived, we also covered business challenges and came up with some great potential solutions, and I gave the group an update on all things Aptus Utilities.”
This is our third workshop since the Academy launched. As well as featuring external speakers participants get involved in roundtable discussions and group activities, which aim to give them new skills and the confidence to progress in their career with Aptus.
The Academy is made up of apprentices, trainees and other colleagues who are in the process of gaining additional qualifications and skills as part of their ongoing development.
At Aptus we’re proud to have surpassed our target under The 5% Club membership, which pledges to achieve 5% of our workforce in ‘earn and learn’ positions within five years, and already have around 10% of colleagues in this position.
We’re pleased to have had some excellent feedback on the Academy, which has an important role to play in continuing to help us attract and retain new talent.
