Since launching in 2022, the Aptus Academy has gone from strength to strength, and we have had the privilege of celebrating a number of members who have successfully gained the required skills and qualifications to graduate. This includes, most recently, four of our multi-utility apprentices!
Brent McIntyre Jnr, Dylan Needham, Harry McTeer and Luke Hodgson all joined Aptus in 2021 on our bespoke training scheme.
Through our award-winning multi-utility apprenticeship scheme, our new generation of operatives have gained expertise in water main and service installation, gas network operations, electrical knowledge, and a raft of related construction industry qualifications.
This equips them to carry out complex multi-utility connections – a skillset which is vitally in demand within our industry.
To gain their credentials, the group completed intensive block sessions of classroom-based learning at Utility and Construction Training in Manchester, and have been honing their practical skills over a two-year training programme. This entailed working with our experienced teams on-site across various residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
We would like to congratulate all four on their achievement, and thank them for all their hard work in reaching this point! Generating a pipeline of talent with the specialist skills our graduates possess is essential to our work supporting the construction industry, and we look forward to celebrating with our triumphant group at their official graduation later this year.
At our most recent Aptus Academy workshop, we welcomed several new apprentices and trainees who are learning the ropes in roles that support our operations, estimating, HR, finance, and design departments.
The group received an update on the business strategy from business development director, Dan Owen, and technical manager, Adrian Cunningham. This focused on Aptus’ preparations for changes within the industry and the challenges encountered while striving for net zero, which you can read more about here. They also engaged in a skill-building session aimed at enhancing interdepartmental communication.
As Gold Members of The 5% Club, we are deeply committed to the development of our team. The Academy offers a dedicated pathway for identifying and enhancing vital skills and knowledge, which both broadens our members’ experience while bringing significant benefits to the business.
We are looking forward to the results of The 5% Club’s Employer Audit benchmarking programme later this year and reaffirming our gold status. The scheme recognises the UK’s leading employers of apprentices, graduates and degree placement students. You can learn more about the scheme and sign up here.
